1. About Mercantile Local

Mercantile Local ("we," "us," or "the platform") is an online directory and map connecting local producers, farmers, artisans, and makers with consumers in the Lake Country and Waukesha County, Wisconsin area. We operate at mercantilelocal.com.

Mercantile Local is a discovery and connection platform only. We do not process payments, handle transactions, manage fulfillment, or take possession of any goods. All transactions occur directly between buyers and merchants.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using mercantilelocal.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform. We may update these terms from time to time — continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any changes.

3. Merchant Listings

Merchants who list their business on Mercantile Local agree to the following:

All information provided is accurate, current, and not misleading
You have the legal right to sell the products and services you list
Your business complies with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including any required licenses or permits
You will keep your listing information up to date, including hours and availability
You will not list products that are illegal, harmful, or violate the rights of others
Mercantile Local reserves the right to remove any listing at any time for any reason

Mercantile Local does not verify the accuracy of merchant listings and makes no representations about the quality, safety, legality, or availability of any listed products or services.

4. Consumer Use

Consumers using Mercantile Local to discover local merchants agree that:

Mercantile Local is a directory service only — we do not guarantee the availability, quality, or accuracy of any listed merchant or product
All purchases and transactions are made directly with merchants at your own risk
You will conduct your own due diligence before purchasing from any merchant
Mercantile Local is not a party to any transaction between you and a merchant

5. No Liability for Transactions

Mercantile Local is not responsible for and expressly disclaims all liability for any transactions, disputes, damages, losses, or injuries arising from interactions between buyers and merchants facilitated through this platform. This includes but is not limited to:

Product quality, safety, or fitness for purpose
Non-delivery or incorrect delivery of goods
Disputes between buyers and merchants
Food safety or allergic reactions
Personal injury or property damage

All disputes are solely between the buyer and the merchant. Mercantile Local has no obligation to intervene in or resolve any such dispute.

6. Intellectual Property

Merchants retain ownership of all content they submit, including business descriptions, photos, and other materials. By submitting content to Mercantile Local, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the platform for the purpose of operating the directory.

The Mercantile Local name, logo, and platform design are the property of Mercantile Local and may not be used without written permission.

7. Privacy

We collect only the information necessary to operate the platform — merchant contact details for listing purposes and basic analytics data for platform improvement. We do not sell personal information to third parties. Merchant email addresses are used to operate merchant accounts and send platform-related communications only.

By using the platform, you consent to the collection and use of information as described above.

8. Platform Availability

We strive to keep Mercantile Local available and functioning but make no guarantees of uptime, availability, or uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the platform at any time without notice.

9. Founding Member Pricing

Merchant listings are currently free for founding members during the early access period. Mercantile Local reserves the right to introduce paid tiers in the future. Existing merchants will be given reasonable advance notice before any pricing changes take effect.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be resolved in the courts of Waukesha County, Wisconsin.
